Over a million primary and secondary school students in Wuhan began their new school year on the morning of Sept. 1. A total of 145 newly built, rebuilt, and enlarged public kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools started to enroll students in this year's autumn semester, the highest number in the last five years.

9月1日清晨，武汉百万中小学生迈入校园，开启新学年。今秋开学，全市新改扩建公办幼儿园、中小学共145所交付使用，规模创五年之最。

Famous racing-car brand sets up global technology headquarters in Wuhan

On the morning of Aug. 31, Lotus Cars Limited, owned by China's Geely Holding Group, established Wuhan Lotus Technology and officially launched the construction of the technology company's global headquarters in Junshan New Town, Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone. Lotus, with a history of 73 years, is one of the most famous sports car and racing car manufacturers in the world.

8月31日上午，吉利控股集团旗下的路特斯集团科技公司在汉成立，与此同时，在武汉经开区军山新城，路特斯科技全球总部正式动工建设。路特斯已有73年历史，是全球知名超豪华跑车品牌之一。

Super large traffic tunnel in urban Wuhan starts boring

武汉城区超大公路隧道开挖

Heping Avenue's southern extension project officially started boring the traffic tunnel on Aug. 29 using a tunnel boring machine. The machine will bore southwards from the Desheng Gate ruins in Deshengqiao, Zhongshan Road under the Wuchang Ancient City area and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway. The whole project is expected to be completed in 2023, significantly improving the traffic conditions around the area.

8月29日，伴随着盾构机前端缓缓转动，和平大道南延隧道段工程正式开挖。按计划，盾构机将由中山路得胜桥武胜门遗址区域始发，向南穿越武昌古城片区、京广铁路线等地区。整个工程预计2023年建成通车，将有效改善武昌古城交通出行条件。

Wuhan administers over 19 million COVID-19 vaccine doses

According to the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission, as of noon on Aug. 29, Wuhan had administered about 19.25 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, of which 18,909,441 were on people aged 18 and over and 347,355 were on people between 12 and 17.

据武汉市卫健委，截至8月29日12时，我市累计接种新冠疫苗超1925万剂次。其中，18岁以上人群累计接种18909441剂次，12-17岁人群累计接种347355剂次。

Consumption coupons to be distributed during Mid-Autumn Day and National Day holidays

Hubei Provincial People's Government announced during a press conference on Aug. 30 that consumption coupons will be distributed to citizens in Hubei — both local residents and travelers from other provinces — during periods such as Mid-Autumn Day, National Day, "Double 11," and "Double 12" this year.

8月30日，湖北省人民政府新闻办公室召开新闻发布会，宣布今年将面向省内居民（包括省外来鄂人员）在“中秋”“国庆”“双十一”“双十二”等时间节点，分批次投放消费券。

Wuhan young man's healing illustrations become trending topic online

武汉小伙的治愈插画火上热搜

The hashtag #Young man creates healing illustrations for city# began trending on Weibo on Aug. 28. The man mentioned in the hashtag is Xiaojing, a Wuhan illustrator. Xiaojing takes photos of buildings, people, and city life and then draws cute creatures on the photos. So far, he has created over 100 works using this process. Many netizens have been moved by his creations and have praised them as being "so healing."

8月28日，#小伙为城市画治愈插画#话题登上微博热搜。话题中的小伙是武汉插画师小井。小井把城市里的建筑、人物和生活瞬间拍成照片，再画上可爱的动漫精灵，迄今创作出上百幅画作。网友们被小井的创意感动纷纷表示“太治愈”。
